Conditioning is an important part of any type of athletic competition. Downhill skiers spend just as much time conditioning their legs as they do on the mountain. Swimmers go for long runs to condition their lungs in order to keep up in the pool. Fighters who want to have that edge have to get in good conditioning workouts just like any other athlete.
Being able to recover quicker, train harder, be more balanced and strong are just some of the benefits of good MMA conditioning. A good conditioning workout will build up a strong core, improve balance and increase overall cardiovascular endurance. If it takes you a longer time to tire out, think about how good of a workout you can have and what good shape you can be in.
Here at Combat Sports Boston, we will offer Strength and Conditioning classes as well as MMA Conditioning classes as often as we can. Right now we have Combat Conditioning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:15 and we will add strength and conditioning at night soon as well.
For some workouts you can do on your own, check out these posted by Kevin Kearns, strength and conditioning coach of Kenny Florian.
